As Senior Packaging Machine Engineer you will be part of the Global Technology group, composed of a select team of technology engineers who are leading individual equipment focused technology platforms. In collaboration with various internal and external partners, you will be actively driving activities around end-of-line packaging of (food) products and defining their future standards. Your field of action will range from optimising existing unit operations to defining new standards for highest efficiency lines with latest safety, ergonomy and change-over performance, as well as striving for zero plastic-waste solutions.

Examples of projects and responsibilities:
New packaging line projects:
Concept (definition of the technology (auto, semi auto manual)) definition of the business case:
  • New full automatic line for fine powder (EU – Asia);
  • New Full automatic line for Liquid in Jerrycan (USA);
  • New semiauto line for drums (EU);
  • Revamping Semiauto line (EU).

Issue relevant documentation as URS and global standard;
Scouting of relevant technology and new partnerships (high standard – mid standard (cost reduced project)).

Global activities:
  • Definition of common standard based on the different production technology (example metal detection for granules vs fine powder);
  • Standardisation of technologies and material (starting with new projects or with the existing technologies depending on the return).
Troubleshooting (normally due to complaints):
  • VFFS sealing problem;
  • Leakage of jerrycans.
Other responsibilities are:
  • Identification of strategic equipment suppliers in collaboration with Purchasing;
  • Provide URS for new line installations and actively participate in Capex projects;
  • Analyse data to improve the packaging process and implementing relevant solutions;
  • Leverage innovative technical solutions (i.e. cobots) to drive cost & ergonomy improvements;
  • Lead development for flexible use of formats and enabling alternative packaging solutions “ zero plastic waste”.

Profile

The ideal candidate has an M.Sc. in packaging or mechanical engineering, with 5-10 years of packaging experience in Food, Fragrance & Flavors, FMCG or Pharma industry. You have proven experience in technology development & implementation, with a focus on end-of-line packaging equipment. You have know-how of key packaging solutions and materials and experience with Continuous Improvement, Lean principles (SMED, AM/PM, Hygienic Design, Ergonomy), as well as, machine safety.
Are you fluent in English (and preferably French) and do you have excellent organisational, interpersonal and communication skills? Then we are looking for you!
