Scope
The Lab Operations Technician is responsible for maintaining the Finch laboratories within the Galapagos Cell and Gene Therapy and overall lab inventories to ensure that daily activities can run smoothly. Part of the Business Projects & Technical Support team you participate in lab operations related projects and in the implementation of new operational processes in the lab areas.
Profile
Your role
· Maintain the different inventories within lab areas using a Kanban; re-stocking the material, removal of expired material, requesting materials from the warehouse for replenishment or to the buyers for purchase in close collaboration with Supply Chain
· Assist in coordination and execution of processes related to waste management (waste forms and collecting waste bins), gowning management, materials flows, personnel flows
· Participate in projects / initiatives to improve lab design, optimize lab space, move activities in the building
· Contribute to the communication and coordination of downtimes in case of facilities interventions or maintenances
· Support EHS/GMO related activities, be the primary point of contact for EHS to coordinate and perform the implementation of safety measures in the labs
· Manage area logbooks
· Coordinate and clean equipment and areas
· Coordinate the laundry of the lab garments
· Collaborate closely with all departments active in the labs to ensure smooth communication and processes; ensure participation to team meeting to enable connectivity
· Write and update procedures related to lab management
In this role, you collaborate closely with all the lab teams (AS, PD, QC, MSAT, NCET, Tech Support, ...), Facilities and EHS.
Who are you?
· MLO, HLO or similar educational background
· Experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry preferred
· Knowledge of GMP guidelines and lean principles
· Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
· Service minded
· Ability to be flexible with changing priorities
· Self-driven and can-do mindset, without compromising quality
· Fluent in English
